A Tektite is a geological/ natural glass formed by a meteorite impact.

The meteorite impact's tremendous heat and pressure made parts of the rock melt, and liquid parts "dash" away and formed at the cooling on the way down to earth again. The contents may vary according to which soil material melted. Tektite comes from the Greek word τηκτός / Tektos, meaning molten. Tektites variants are often named for where it comes from.
