(Brachiopoda) is a Phylum of mollusc that has existed on Earth for about 500 million years and still exists.

The name Brachiopoda derived from Greek and translates as arm-foot,  they are also known as "lamp shells" . They look like some sort of bivalve, but are built  differently. Most brachiopods species have shanks, pedicle to which they attach to the bottom surface. To pick up food from the water, they have a tentacle crown/lophophore used to filter out the nutrients in the water.
