Moldavite was created by a meteorite impact 14.7 million years ago.

The impact Crater / Ries crater can be clearly seen even today. The city of Nördlingen (Bavaria in southern Germany) is located in the middle of the crater. The name Moldavite comes from Moldau river valley (not as often can be read from Moldova) where you can find these tektites. The meteorite impact melted parts of the bedrock and remains thrown into the atmosphere and then fall down to the earth. The olive green color is characteristic of Moldavite composed mainly of silica and is a natural glass. Moldavite has been used since ancient times for jewelery and spiritual articles. It just gets harder and harder to find Moldavite, because this the fakes increased. All Moldavite we sell are authentic, purchased on the premises of those searching and thoroughly tested.
